Description :
The Midtown Music AR experience is a next-generation mobile experience that gives fans at the festival and around the world a new way to interact with live musical performances and the upcoming 2020 Hyundai Sonata. Exclusively sponsored by Hyundai, this set of AR experiences, for the first time, empowers users to watch the festival from anywhere in the world via a bespoke, user-controlled live-streaming 3D viewer. At any point in time, at-home users can place and step through an AR Portal that transports them onto the side of stage for a truly VIP experience via a streaming 360 camera. Moreover, at-home users & festival-goes use their phones to place a beautiful, high-end CG 2020 Hyundai Sonata in the real-world and interact with it to learn about it’s hottest features.

The Music Midtown AR Experience was the third AR experience I built at PortalsXR and the first as a full-time employee. It was integrated into the Music Midtown festival app and supported iOS 8+, Galaxy 7+, and Pixel 2+ devices.

One of the most challenging and rewarding parts of this project was guiding a small art team in the creation of a performant, photoreal car based off of a 40 million polygon CAD file.

The app featured four different AR modules that supported both 2D and 360 live streaming festival content.
